Upgrading Your Thermostat: Simple and Effective

hand-adjusting-thermostatJust last week the Northeast was being pummeled by a late season snowstorm. When something like that happens, it can be a bit difficult to believe that spring is already here today. It’s certainly still chilly enough to feel like winter, but it won’t be too much longer before the days begin to warm up. Very soon, we’ll be reminding you to get your air conditioning system tuned up for the summer season. Today, though, we want to recommend a very simple HVAC upgrade that can prove seriously beneficial.

Replacing your thermostat in Westport, CT may not sound like much of a priority. After all, your existing thermostat regulated your heater just fine throughout the winter. Do you really want to settle for “just fine,” though? You don’t have to replace your entire HVAC system to start enjoying a better overall heating and cooling performance. You may just need to change the way in which you control your current setup.

Improve Comfort, Efficiency, and Convenience

That may sound like an exaggerated claim considering your just upgrading a single component of your HVAC system. Considering that this single component is pretty much the only one that you have direct interaction with, though, and it is responsible for the regulation of both your heater’s and your AC’s performances, it really should not be that hard to believe.

Take Advantage of Programmability

If you are using an old round thermostat, or even one with slide controls, chances are that you are not actually setting temperatures in your home as accurately as you think that you are. Now, that doesn’t mean that you are not living comfortably. The discrepancy between the temperature that you think you’ve set, however, and that which you’re actually maintaining, may mean that you’re spending money that you don’t want to be spending.

A basic digital thermostat allows you to avoid this problem.  Push-button controls and an easy to read digital display make it much simpler to set and adjust temperatures the way that you actually want to. That being said, we advise homeowners to go beyond the most basic digital models, and to opt for programmable thermostats. With these devices, you can schedule your HVAC system to work around your schedule. This means that you can maintain more moderate temperatures throughout the day, and still come home to a very comfortable environment without paying to keep an empty house so cozy all day.

There Are More Advanced Options, Too

Are you someone who loves your devices? Are you just someone interested in making your home a greener place, while also saving some green on your heating and cooling costs? Then consider the use of smart thermostat in your home. With a smart thermostat, you can control your system remotely via any internet enabled device. You can also use a learning model to automate temperature control in your home. The technology is there. You just need to start taking advantage of it!
