Our winters are long and cold here in Connecticut, and we had some late season snowfall that really put a damper on things this year. At least we expect this from winter, though. Spring can be even tougher because, as we’ve seen, we can never really know what to expect in terms of winter. Fortunately, it won’t be long before things finally do really start to warm up.

Of course, summer can be pretty tough to enjoy fully if your air conditioner is not functioning properly. We’d love to set you up with an AC that is guaranteed to function perfectly at all times, but this is just not a possibility here in the real world. Now Is the Time for Routine AC Maintenance

Don’t let our relatively chilly spring weather trick you into thinking that you don’t have to prepare for the summer season yet, though. When summer does arrive, it just may sneak up on you a bit earlier than you expected. The heat of summer may be a welcome change of pace after our long, hard winter season has passed, but you are not really going to be able to enjoy summer to the fullest if you fail to get your air conditioner ready for the season.

Now, there are definitely some very basic maintenance tasks that you can and should handle for yourself. For instance, it is important that you change the air filter in your air conditioning system as needed. Generally, that is going to be every 1-3 months. It is also a good idea to remove snow and other debris from your condenser unit outside, and to keep the area surrounding the unit clear. There is a lot more to AC maintenance than this, though, and most of it requires the skill and expertise of a trained professional.
